mgmt - kids

You were a child
Crawling on your knees toward it
Making momma so proud,
But your voice is too loud

We like to watch you laughing,
You pick the insects off plants
No time to think of consequences

[Chorus:]
Control yourself
Take only what you need from it
A family of trees wanted
To be haunted

[Repeat chorus]

The water is warm
But it’s sending me shivers
A baby is born
Crying out for attention

The memories fade
Like looking through a fogged mirror
Decision to decisions are made
And not bought,
But I thought this wouldn’t hurt a lot.
I guess not... chorus.

I love this song too much for words. Lyrics above. Please listen.

the kills

I always just thought that The Kills was that dude who went out with Kate Moss but I CANNOT stop listening to Midnight Boom. It is so great and I haven't loved a proper rock n roll album for yeeeears now! Lovelovelove them. Listen to Last Day of Magic or Cheap and Cheerful. So great.
I love it - I mentioned that right?

marky marc!

it was my birthday yesterday and my amazing boyfriend bought me a sewing machine. ahhhhhhhhhhhh... absolutely amazing present so it is pretty apt that it is NY fashion week and the most inspiration I could possibly imagine in photographic form is winging its way across the atlantic via cyberspace... these are a few pics from Marc by Marc Jacobs. mmm now how to thread the needle...

fashion shows NYC

Nicole, Winona at DKNY 2009 spring collection in NYC... love Nicole's outfit - absolutely amazing... very bold stripes - I approve completely! Alexa Chung was meant to be djing at Bestival but she must have seen the weather forecast and hopped on a plane to New York instead! Don't blame her I opted out too!

cass bird M.I.A. paper shoot

cass bird is a photographer who i feel embodies a lot of the idea of what the kids are up to in new york, a kind of hedonistic, beautiful crowd... she does stunning portraits check out her website here. i absolutely adore all her photos. she just shot M.I.A. for paper magazine which is an absolutely amazing shoot, so intense and so close up I think I read somewhere that she just follows people around all day and tells them to do whatever they would normally... so M.I.A. is a cigar smoker!

jewish museum berlin

Back in february two of my best mates and I went to Berlin for the weekend to see what all the fuss was about and had just about the best weekend of my life! I just came across this photo of the jewish museum and had to post it as the museum blew me away compltely. Built by Daniel Libeskind in 1999, the whole building was designed around Jewish history in Germany from the 4th Century to the present. It’s beautiful architecture, but what’s most striking is the concept behind the design, the whole thing makes you feel disorientated and confused, with corridors bending upwards and then downwards and narrow walls with tiny gaps. It is intended to make you understand the disorientation of the holocaust. Absolutely amazing.
